Life in Japan: Going to the movies, to see yourself in the movies

Somewhere in the midst of my big Summer break, I visited the Cinema. Actually, not to see anything in particular, but I had realized that a movie I worked on, as an extra, had just come out. I told myself that if there was nothing interesting playing, I would watch that movie.

The movie is 春を背負って (Carrying the Spring), a story about a guy who quits his job in the finance industry to work in a remote mountain hut for travellers.

Actually no, I was pretty sure I was going to watch that movie. Why? because I'm sad I guess and I figured this would be probably the only chance to ever see myself on the big screen, even if it was just me drinking coffee, typing, answering phone calls and making notes in the foreground/background, for a total of about 10-15 seconds.

The movie, which I originally thought would be incredibly boring, given my experience working on the set, turned out to be really enjoyable! I could understand enough Japanese to enjoy what the actors were saying (probably about 70%). The thing I enjoyed the most about it was probably the scenery. It was really breathtaking and must have been difficult for them to film in such a location.

Hollywood, I'm here if you ever run out of people to drink coffee

John's Art: Close Your Windows

Some artwork I made for use as a sign in the hotel (where I have been living for the past 2.5 years!). The boss says she likes it (^_^)

The seal is a San-x character called Mamegoma and the pigeon is something i made up myself :)
